Allied Signs can build you a Channel Letter sign. What are Channel
Letters? These are individually fabricated letters that are common
in shopping centers and mini malls. They are often times preferred
by the retail industry, because they represent a business with
permanence versus a simple panel sign. There popularity comes from
shopping oriented suburbia America, were retail stores are expected
to look new, crisp, with consistent uniformity and architecturally
defined.
Investigate some versions of channel
letters. |

|
|
|
Lighted Channel Letter
- These are letters that have a 3" to 5" deep aluminum cabinet shaped to
the letter with LED modules inside and a translucent plastic face
with 1" trimcap. The effect is the letter lights up at
night. |

Non Lighted Channel Letter
-
These are letters that have a 3" to 5" deep cabinet shaped to the
letter and a translucent plastic face with 1" trimcap. There
is no inside lighting. |

Reverse Channel Letter
- These are letters that have a 5" deep cabinet shaped to
the letter but the backside is open. There is inside
lighting with neon or LED modules mounted to the clear polycarbonate backs.
The backs attach to the wall, then the letter is attached to
the back. This gives the letter a hallow lighting effect. |

Channel Logo - Logos too
complicated to make as a channel letter may be still made as
a separate canister, just using a simple outline of the
logo. Then the complicated version of the logo is applied in
vinyl to the plastic face of the sign. It is still 5" deep
like the channel letters and can be internally lit also. |

Channel Bars - A Channel
Bar usually coincides with channel letters, but has subcopy
or a slogan in vinyl applied to its face. It is still 5"
deep like the channel letters and can be internally lit
also. This helps to reduce the cost of the overall sign
versus making individual letters on subcopy. |

Investigate
some Installation Options |

|
Direct Wall Mount
Installation
- The Channel letters can be install directly to the facia
of a store front. If the channel letters have internal
lighting, this requires hidden transformer boxes and high
voltage pass-thru's from the letter outside to the interior
behind the store front. This installation looks cleaner from
the front side, but requires 2 holes per letter through the
building facia. Some land lords do not allow this type of
installation. |

Raceway Installation
- The Channel letters can be installed onto a raceway, ie.
basically a 7" deep aluminum box that runs the entire length
of the total lettering. This makes it so that all high
voltage wiring and transformers are inside of the aluminum
box. Then the box simply installs to the facia of a store
front, with one hole for electrical service protruding
through the facia. The raceway usually is painted the same
color as the store front facia, so that it does not detract
from the letters. This form of installation is required by
some land lords that have regular tenant turn around. |
